"Any details on the proposal, such as the type of signage, location of signage, who pays for it, who reviews prior to installation, etc." At our August meeting we discussed the type and location of signage: -- We agreed that initial plans would involve attaching plaques to the doors of homes, -- and as a second possibility placing them at the junction of the sidewalk and the front walk where passersby could see and read them. -- I encouraged the use of exterior quality ceramic tile -- I have a contact with a ceramicist who is interested in the project. I've given her some details as possibilities and will talk with her soon. Who pays: -- We will offer our $400 and invite matching money from the City. Who reviews prior to installation: -- Board and home owners ought to have input and final review privileges? -- If the City wants to work with us or create a channel whereby they review the plans then we welcome their ideas. We would like to see plaques on Merit Resource and selected homes in the neighborhood such as yours. The criteria for selection would include some if not all of these conditions: 1) age of 50 years and more 2) has a particular architectural and heritage value 3) owner occupied and or well kept, exterior unaltered in most cases 4) homes known by the name of the initial owner/builder. If you would be interested in exploring this possibility, we want you to be part of the design and review process. The Board of the Neighborhood Assocation has set some initial parameters: Material: exterior ceramic Design: by a local artist in conjunction with you and the board Placement: front door/junction of sidewalk and front walk Information contained: At the very least the date of construction, the address, the first owner's name if known and used Intention: that each plaque be unique to the house with the above listed common elements We do not yet know how many plaques will be created. Our current budget is $400. If we secure City funds in addition we will be able to make more. Currently we have identified 24 houses that would under the most generous scenario be of interest to the Board in this project.
