June 24, 2003

What we did yesterday, June 23rd, in downtown Sacramento seemed to work. We
have several routing contingencies in the event protest events in downtown
Sacramento and Davis affect our routes any different than they did
yesterday. While we will try to minimize them, some service delays may occur
because of the protests. As a general rule, if you see no cars on the street
segment you normally board at, due to the protest, then chances are our
buses won't be able to stop there either. While there may be variations of
what could happen, we suggest that riders of afternoon express buses #39,
43, 44, 45, 230, 231, and 232 who board near the Cal/EPA building, as well
as those who board along 10th Street, walk to RT bus stops along 9th Street
between K and P Streets in the afternoons from now through Thursday, June
26th. This is because portions of 10th Street between L and N Streets may be
blocked off, preventing us from being able to do our normal afternoon route.

We hope all other Y0LOBUS routes and trips won't be affected.

Yesterday, we had supervisors and management personnel at 11th/I, 9th/L,
9th/N and 10th/N to help guide the afternoon commuters. While we will still
have a downtown supervisor presence, their locations may change as needed.
We may need to make other emergency routing changes, depending on what the
police do in response to different scenarios. We will try to have extra
buses and supervisors in downtown Sacramento during the afternoon commute
period to assist you and to put up information signs if the routes do need
to change. Thank you for your patience. Check your email and keep referring
to this emergency announcement page for updates.
