YOLOBUS To Give Free Rides to Seniors on October 24th!

 

YOLOBUS has announced that seniors age 62 and over may ride both YOLOBUS and
YOLOBUS Special for FREE on Tuesday, October 24th. 

Governor Schwarzenegger has declared October 22-28th as "Senior Safe
Mobility Week."   As part of that program, activists in the region have
suggested that transit operators invite seniors to ride their systems for
free, as a way of motivating safe mobility, especially by seniors who are no
longer able to drive.   

The Yolo County Transportation District Board of Directors recently
authorized free YOLOBUS rides to Seniors on Tuesday, October 24th.  This
opportunity applies to YOLOBUS Special also, which is curb-to-curb service
for eligible elderly who have disabilities and can't ride fixed route buses.
YOLOBUS operates over 4,500 miles each weekday, so there are lots of trips
seniors will have the opportunity to take.  This includes:

Because Dunnigan and Yolo have YOLOBUS service only on Mondays and
Thursdays, the free rides to Seniors for those residents will be provided on
Thursday, October 26th.

YOLOBUS transfers to Sacramento Regional Transit buses or light rail are not
included in this free-ride day offer.
