is the official Spare the Air Advisory declaring tomorrow to be the summer's
first "Spare The Air" day. As previously announced, YOLOBUS
will provide free rides to all passengers on announced "Spare The Air"
days.</STRONG></FONT></SPAN></P>
<P><FONT size=2>Tomorrow, Tuesday, August 10th is the first Spare The Air Day of
the </FONT><FONT size=2>2004 summer smog season in the Sacramento
region.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT size=2></FONT></P>
<P><FONT size=2>Ground-level ozone air pollution is forecast to reach 135 AQI -
Unhealthy </FONT><FONT size=2>for Sensitive Groups today (Spare The Air trigger
is 127 AQI & above).</FONT></P>
<P><FONT size=2>A Spare The Air Advisory has been issued for tomorrow due to
strong high </FONT><FONT size=2>pressure over northern California that is
creating clear skies, hot surface </FONT></P>
<P><FONT size=2>temperatures, light winds, and a strong temperature inversion,
trapping pollution </FONT><FONT size=2>in the Sacramento region.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT size=2>The Spare The Air program is urging motorists to reduce driving
and take </FONT><FONT size=2>their lunches to work instead of driving out to
eat. Homeowners are asked </FONT></P>
<P><FONT size=2>to avoid the use of gas-powered yard tools. Everyone is urged to
carpool </FONT><FONT size=2>to sports and recreation activities and postpone
errands that can wait. </FONT></P>
<P><FONT size=2>Did you know that:</FONT></P>
<P><FONT size=2>Poorly maintained cars pollute more. Regular tune-ups will help
your car run </FONT><FONT size=2>better and cost less to operate. </FONT></P>
<P><FONT size=2>People are also being asked to:</FONT></P>
<P><FONT size=2>- eliminate vehicle trips</FONT></P>
<P><FONT size=2>- work from home instead of driving to work if your employer
supports "teleworking"</FONT></P>
<P><FONT size=2>- arrange to carpool with friends or co-workers</FONT></P>
<P><FONT size=2>- use public transit whenever possible</FONT></P>
<P><FONT size=2>- exercise in the morning before air quality hits unhealthy
levels</FONT></P>
<P><FONT size=2>- avoid the use of charcoal lighter fluid and
barbecues</FONT></P>
