<P><FONT size=2>Today, Friday, June 23, through Monday, June 26, are Spare The
Air Days in the Sacramento region. </FONT></P>
<P><FONT size=2>Ground-level ozone air pollution is forecast to reach 140 on the
Air Quality Index (AQI) - Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups today, and 156 -
Unhealthy tomorrow, and remain above 127 AQI Sunday and Monday.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT size=2>Spare The Air trigger is 127 AQI & above.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT size=2></FONT></P>
<P><FONT size=2>A Spare The Air Advisory is in effect for today through Monday
due to a strong high pressure system that has clamped down on the Sacramento
region, producing sunny skies, very hot temperatures, light and variable winds,
and a strong temperature inversion. These weather conditions are trapping
pollution in our region and will cause maximum AQI levels to remain above the
Spare The Air trigger this weekend and early next week.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT size=2>The Spare The Air program is urging all motorists to reduce
driving and take their lunches to work instead of driving out to eat. Homeowners
are asked to avoid the use of gas-powered yard tools like lawn mowers and leaf
blowers. Everyone is urged to carpool to sports and recreation activities, bike
or walk when possible, and postpone driving errands that can wait. </FONT></P>
