The Wennberg Music Festival provides an annual opportunity for orchestral musicians from Davis public schools to celebrate their musical achievement with our community. Musicians from 6th through 12th grade perform in the world-class performance venue of the Mondavi Center for Performing Arts, at UC Davis. The Wennberg Festival features the All-District Elementary Strings students (primarily 6th graders), the Combined Intermediate Junior High Orchestra (7th graders), the Combined Advanced Junior High Orchestra (8th and 9th graders), the Davis High School Chamber Orchestra & Davis High School Symphony (10th - 12th graders). 

This concert features the winner of the DHS Concerto Competition.  This year's winner, May Zhang, DHS 10th grade student, will perform the First Movement of Schumann's Piano Concerto in A Minor with accompaniment from the DHS Symphony Orchestra.

The mission of the Festival is three-fold: 

    a.. To support music program development in the Davis schools; 
    b.. To foster the integration of music training resources in our community; 
    c.. To support community efforts which enrich the cultural soul of Davis. 
Proceeds from the Wennberg Music Festival are used to support the strings and orchestral program in the DJUSD including purchase, maintenance and repair of school string instruments; master classes; scholarships for participation in fieldtrips; adjudication for seating auditions; music scores; competitions; and outreach concerts. 

The Wennberg Music Festival is underwritten and sponsored by the Davis Schools Orchestral Music Association (DSOMA) with support from orchestra families and private donors.  For more information visit the DSOMA website at www.dsoma.org
