Hi Everyone,Monday and today I've been handing out the Tea Party packets to each of your students.  Please check with your student to make sure they have it.  (I know there are at least 3 jazz band students who left theirs in the band room, because they were still there today on the floor).  The instructions are inside the packet, but I've pasted them below so you can get an idea of what this is.This is a super easy and fast fundraiser that can raise a LOT of money.  I've asked everyone to complete and return the packets to Mr. S by October 26.  But if they can just do them this weekend and get it done, that would be even better.ThanksCynthia

Dear DHS Band Families,
This is the packet for our “No-Show Tea Party”. This will be a major fundraiser to support many of the bands’ expenses during the year. Remember, it takes $35-40,000 each year to run the bands, and that does NOT include trip costs! Last year we had about 40 students participate as a New York trip fundraiser and raised over $13,000!!! However, unlike last year, this year it is not specifically for trips; this is a fundraiser for the entire bands’ activities! We have lost some fundraisers, and others are not as productive as in years past, so we really need EVERYONE to participate in this, so we can make up that lost revenue. This is a fundraiser for ALL band booster expenses!
Here’s what to do with this packet:1. Write a personal, short note at the very top of each of the 5 letters, and sign your name at the bottom.2. Address the provided blank envelopes, and place your letter inside, but DO NOT SEAL IT!! We will have tea bags and will place the return envelopes inside, then we will mail them out.3. Place stamps on all 10 envelopes: the ones you’ve addressed put 2 stamps (it will cost more with the tea bag inside); the 5 self-addressed return envelopes for donors, put 1 stamp4. Please return the packets to Mr. Slabaugh in class as soon as you can, please no later than October 26.
Who should receive a letter? Here are some ideas:Grandparents, aunts and uncles, Godparents, neighbors, out of town family members, Music Loving friends, music teachers, friends who have asked you to support their activities, people you know from Scouts, church, work, activities, your pet sitter, families you have bought girl scout cookies from, a celebrity! Unlike last year, this time do NOT solicit any businesses or professionals (such as Dr. Molitor or Dr. Mandelaris), we’ll be doing a separate business solicitation.
Do you need help with what to say in your short note at the top of the letter? Here are some suggested greetings you can write:
Hi, _________. I will be travelling with my high school band to ______ (UCLA/Disneyland or New Orleans) and am so excited! If you can help support our trip with a donation of any amounts, that would be wonderful. Thank you and I’ll share pictures!Hello, ________. I’m not going on the trip this year, but there are still lots of fun concerts and activities I’ll be doing, and we could really use your support. If you can donate even a small amount to support our group, thank you!
If you need more than 5 letters, or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Cynthia Kerner at cjkerner at sbcglobal.net
Thank you!!
