THIS DAY IN HISTORY
-1989 - Two men went over the 176-foot-high Niagara Falls in a barrel.  Jeffrey Petkovich and Peter Debernardi were the first to ever survive the Horseshoe Falls.

DHS Winter Athletes:  SAVE THESE DATES! (Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Wrestling, Ski Team, Snowboard Team)
Concussion Baseline Testing:  October 15--5:30, 6:30, 7:30 and October 16--4:00, 5:00, 6:00. Sign up link and permission forms are available at www.davisseniorhigh.net<http://www.davisseniorhigh.net>  Winter athletes only. Dates will be added later for Spring athletes.
Sports Physical Paperwork Nights:  October 23 & 24: 6-8pm in the North Gym lobby. Turn in your completed paperwork and receive your athletic clearance card to present to your Winter coach on the first day of tryouts.

-Hey Blue Devils!  There is a UNICEF Meeting this Friday, September 28th at lunch in P-20.

-Do you want to learn new dance moves and show off your own?  Do you want to be part of the freestyle performances in the quad?  Then come to Freestyle Club in the Dance Room on Thursdays at lunchtime to express yourself through dance, beat box and more!

-CSFers!!! Thanks for registering for the Fall 2012 Semester!  We will be starting with the first general meeting this Friday, at lunch in room P-13 (Ms. O'Brien's room).  You will meet the officers, learn about the club and most importantly, learn about community service opportunities.  See you then!

-Seniors:  If you did not pick-up a packet at the Assembly, please stop by the Front Office for your Senior 2013 Graduation Guide.  It includes cap, gown and tassel information along with Graduation announcements.

-Seniors and Juniors:  If you would like to order a class ring, please stop by the Front Office to pick-up a brochure.

-Davis High School is holding its second annual Mini College Fair!  Colleges from across the country will be ON THE QUAD AT LUNCH ON MONDAY, OCTOBER 1 to provide information and answer questions about their college.  Colleges that will be represented at the fair include University of Arizona, University of Reno, Colorado Mesa, Johnson & Wales, Loyola University Chicago and more! Come to the quad at lunch on Monday October 1 to take advantage of this great opportunity to get information about colleges you're interested in!

-If you are a club, sports team or group on campus and are interested in participating in the homecoming day parade, come to C-4 and pick up both an application for participation and permission slips for all those who wish to take part in the parade.  All applications must be turned into C-4 by October 5th.

-Picture Retake:  Picture retake will be on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Library West Conference Room.  You must bring your unwanted picture packet that you received in order to take your new pictures.   All new students that took pictures in the Library, please come and take your picture on October 2 so that you will be in the Yearbook.

-Seniors! You must take an official Senior Portrait in order to be featured in the yearbook! You do not have to buy a package, but you must take a photo. If you have not yet taken your portrait please contact LifeTouch Prestige. You can find more info on the yearbook website: http://dhsyearbook.com or see Mrs. Thomsen in C-3.

-Students who will be voting in the November election: be an informed voter - please come learn about the five candidates for the local school board. -Davis Senior High School is seeking a parent to serve on the School Site Council for the 2012-2013 school  year.  The School Site Council discusses ways to improve student achievement and meets at Davis Senior High School on the third Thursday of each month at 3:00.  If you are interested in applying to serve, please contact Vice Principal Tom McHale at tmchale at djusd.net<mailto:tmchale at djusd.net>.

-Do you like helping others and want the chance to make a difference in your community?  Sign up for the National Honor Society outside room S-12 this week.  Just bring your official second semester transcript from last year with a GPA of 3.4 or higher, $5. and your enthusiasm!  Hope to see you soon!
