THIS DAY IN HISTORY:  1990 - In Ottawa, the United States and its European allies forged an agreement
with the Soviet Union and East Germany on a two-stage formula to reunite Germany.

TODAY'S BLACK HISTORY MONTH FACT!  On this day, the first Black pro-basketball team, called the
Renaissance was organized in 1923.

Men's Basketball Team's Senior Night:  The DHS Men's Basketball Team would like to thank all the
students who played such an enthusiastic role in the win on "Break the Record Night". With your help
we not only set a new attendance record but the Varsity Blue Devils scored an upset victory over
Franklin High.

We invite you to come out again to the Davis High basketball court on Tuesday, Feb. 18 to cheer on the
Blue Devils as we celebrate SENIOR NIGHT.  This is the final home game of the regular season for our
senior players who will be introduced before the game.   The Varsity game tip-off against Grant is 7 p.m.,
with the junior varsity starting at 5:30 p.m.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:  Attention, bicycling students!  The Davis Bicycle Club is kindly donating a
limited number of bicycle helmets for students who need them.  We have a sign-up sheet for helmets in
the Career Center.   If you are in need of a helmet, please sign up as soon as possible!

TODAY:  Hey Sophomores and Juniors!  Today is Election Day!  Come by C-4 during lunch or after school
to vote.  Don't forget your student ID card!

The DHS Jazz Choir's music-only version of its 2014 Cabaret "Let It Shine" will be at 7 p.m. tonight,
February 13 at Brunelle Hall.  Tickets available at the door are $5 for students and seniors, $10 for
adults.  This encore performance follows last weekend's sold-out dinner musical extravaganza featuring
show tunes, solos, and ensembles directed by William Zinn with choreography by Cara Rains.

What is it like to be on the City Council?  Find out by participating in Youth in Government.  You will be
able to shadow a city government official and participate in a mock City Council meeting.  Pick up an
application in C-4.  Applications are due February 28th.  There is an informational meeting in C-4 on
Thursday, February 13th at lunch.

ACADEMICS/COLLEGE INFO:  The UC Davis Department of Surgery in Sacramento is offering a Pre-
Medical Surgical Internship and Mentorship Program to high school students who are at least 17 years
old and are interested in a career in medicine.  Participants will interact with physicians and observe
them through every step of patient care.  Deadline to apply is March 31.  Come to the Career Center for
more information.

If you need help completing federal financial aid forms for college, UC Davis can help you during their
Financial Aid Awareness Week February 18-20. Financial aid professionals will be available to assist
students and parents complete the FAFSA and DREAM Act applications. Come to the Career Center for
more information.

Audition applications for Davis High School's Advanced Treble Choir, Jazz Choir and the Madrigal Singers

SENIORS: Visit the Front Desk at break or lunchtime to check the spelling on the diploma order list.  The
deadline is February 14, 2014 to make any adjustments, if needed.

Attention all Spring Sport Athletes: ILS Forms are in the Front Office.  All applications require a coach's
signature once you have officially made the team roster.  Read and Follow the instructions on the
Application carefully.  Signed applications are due no later than Tuesday, February 18th.  Questions?

CLUBS/EVENTS:  Hey football players!  Want to get back at Coach Smyte for making you wake up at 5:00
am for zero period?  Make him kiss a goat for FFA's Kiss the Goat Fundraiser!  Go drop some change in
his Kiss the Goat jar in the LRC.  For more information about this fundraiser and FFA (the coolest club on
campus) stop by O-1A!

The GSA meets tomorrow, Friday at lunch in L-28.  All Blue Devils are welcome!

DHS Unicyclers! How are you rolling? Come join our club! N-4 Thursdays at lunchtime!

Unsatisfied with last semester's language grades?  Come to N-2 any day during lunch to get help in your
world language or English classes.  Whether you need to review verb conjugations or have someone
read your English essay, the Language Tutors Club is here to help!

The Davis Homeless Shelter Needs YOUR Help!  Throughout February DHS will be collecting items for the
Davis Homeless shelter.   ITEMS NEEDED:   SOAP    SHAMPOO    LOTION   CANNED FOOD There is a drop
off bin for donations located in the main office.   Check postings around school for more information.

Apply for Student Government today!  Pick up an application in C-4 and turn it in by February 14th.

Have you bought your yearbook yet?  Make sure to order your yearbook soon.  There are only a small
number left!  You can confirm your order by checking the list posted in the library's window.
