THIS DAY IN HISTORY:  1778 - The Stars and Stripes was carried to a foreign port, in France, for the first
time. It was aboard the American ship Ranger.

TODAY'S BLACK HISTORY MONTH FACT!  On this date, a historical Black college called Morehouse
College was founded in Atlanta, Georgia in 1867.

Senior Nights at Basketball:  Celebrate our graduating basketball seniors on Friday, February 14 for Girls
Basketball and Tuesday, February 18 for Boys Basketball. Varsity teams play at 7:00pm and JV teams at
5:30pm.

Attention all Spring Sport Athletes: ILS Forms are in the Front Office.  All applications require a coach's
signature once you have officially made the team roster.  Read and Follow the instructions on the
Application carefully.  Signed applications are due no later than Tuesday, February 18th.  Questions?

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:  Attention, bicycling students!  The Davis Bicycle Club is kindly donating a
limited number of bicycle helmets for students who need them.  We have a sign-up sheet for helmets in
the Career Center.   If you are in need of a helmet, please sign up as soon as possible!

TODAY:  Hey Sophomores and Juniors!  Today, Friday is Election Day!  Come by C-4 before school, during
lunch or break, or after school to vote.  Don't forget your student ID card!

SENIORS: Visit the Front Desk at break or lunchtime to check the spelling on the diploma order list.  The
deadline is today, February 14, 2014 to make any adjustments, if needed.

The Gay-Straight Alliance meets today in Mr. Wheeler's classroom, L-28.  We will be discussing
involvement at Open House, LEAD-supported survey, student government support and planning for Day
of Silence.  All Blue Devils are always welcome to attend.

Applications for Student Government are due today in C-4.
ACADEMICS/COLLEGE INFO:  UC Davis is hosting a Financial Aid Awareness Week February 18-20 on the
UC Davis campus. Financial aid professionals will be available to assist students and parents complete
the FAFSA and DREAM Act applications February 18-20 from 6-8 p.m at the UC Davis Student
Community Center.  Come to the Career Center for more information.

Any student wishing to take AP Art Studio next year, must submit a portfolio of work to the Art
Department by Wednesday, February 19th.  See Ms. Diem in A-1 for any questions.
Audition applications for Davis High School's Advanced Treble Choir, Jazz Choir and the Madrigal Singers

AP test sales are open at the Webstore.  $95.00/test, no refunds.  Sales end Friday, March 7.

Zoinks! Zeba! Ever wanted to be a superhero like Superman or Spiderman?  Well you can't but if you join
the HUB, you can be the next best thing, a journalist!  We are on a super-search for photographers,
graphic artists, business managers and a web master.  If you have a talent in any of these areas, pick up
an application in O-1 today!

CLUBS/EVENTS:  So everyone knows that our new principal, Mr. Brown, isn't officially part of the Blue
Devil family until he's been forced to kiss a goat!  So go put some money in his Kiss the Goat jar in the
office.  For more information about this fundraiser and FFA (the coolest club on campus) stop by O-1A.
And don't forget to watch our winning teacher smooch the goat Friday, the 21st at lunch!

Latinos Unidos!  Come to our meeting this Tuesday, February 18th in Room S-2.  We will discuss the
World Language Fair, food, murals, tutoring and more.  ¡Nos vemos amigos!

What are the responsibilities of a High School Principal?  What about a School Board Representative?
Find out by picking up a Youth in Government application in C-4.  Applications are due Friday, February
28th in C-4.

Have you bought your yearbook yet?  Make sure to order your yearbook soon.  There are only a small
number left!  You can confirm your order by checking the list posted in the library's window.
