A duly called regular meeting of the
Board of the Davis Community
Network was scheduled for Tuesday, November 15, 2005
at the City of Davis Training Room at 600 A Street.

Present 5 members: Rick Guidara, Steve McMahon, Jim Frame, John
Jones, Kimball Sargeant; also Exec. Dir. Richard Lowenberg.

Absent 7 members: Tony Bernhard, Tsui Chang, Tom Stanionis, Anne
Hance, Jan Meizel, Robert Nickerson, Richard Yamagata.

Since a quorum was not achieved, no action requiring advance notice
was taken. What follows are general notes about the conversation.

1. Board recruitment was discussed. Kimball proposed that the board
nomination committee be constituted in the near future so that candidate
identification can commence prior to the holidays. Richard and John
volunteered to serve on the committee. Richard will contact Tsui Chang
and Alan Brattesani and invite them to round out the committee
composition.

2. Rick Guidara provided an update on Inet construction, estimating the
fiber infrastructure is between 60% and 80% complete. Rick plans to
call a meeting in January to begin planning implementation.

3. Wireless access for Davis was discussed, with many possibilities set
forth. Variations in technical approach and business model abound, with
no clear path identified to obtaining public wireless access.

4. Kimball proposed hosting a combination Board meeting and holiday
party on December 20. Details forthcoming.

5. Steve recapped webteam activities pertaining to the November
election. Financial reporting pages for Measure X were provided, as
well as pages for DCTV webcasts and streams (made possible by a
substantial assist from city staff), and updated election returns. Steve
noted that the new server performed well, eliminating the sluggishness
observed when the pages were served by its predecessor.

The meeting adjourned shortly after 6:00 p.m.
