In his report Brian had noted the pressure at his workplace and requested election to a new 6-month term. It was agreed that since the bylaws prescribe two-year terms it was necessary to re-elect Brian to a two-year term with the understanding that he might need to withdraw after 6 months.

That the non-renewing board members (Guidara, Suter & Sykes) join Tony Bernhard on the DCN Advisory Board that has no requirements and does not meet but does receive board meeting agendas to alert its members to issues on which they might wish to comment or advise.

    was approved by consensus.

7.    Report on Da Vinci internship Project

Tsui reported no progress and commented that the timeline for the project would need to be re-visited.

8.    Board member donations to DCN

Vice President Steve McMahon reminded the board that donations are voluntary and that no specific amount is prescribed. Checks should be made out to Davis Community Network and mailed to Sheila Evans at DCN, 1623 5th St, Davis, CA 95616

9.    Committee Reports

Web Team: Steve McMahon reported that the interactive website at "DistrictDollars.org" will go live at the beginning of February. The site, which is hosted by DCN, is designed to help members of the public understand the District's budget process and issues. It has been built by Steve at the direction of a group of community members and District officials and staff. The work is being paid for by a grant received by the School District from which funds are paid to DCN in partial payment for Steve's services.

RAC:  Jan Meizel reported that the committee approved one project during the past month and had made a recommendation regarding withholding Explorit's web and email monthly bills for a year or until the financially strapped organization can resume payment. Jan's recommendation was approved by the Executive Committee at its Friday, January 15 2010 meeting.

OPC: Teri Greenfield reported that progress is being made on the PR slide show. Currently the material is being checked for proper use of the newly approved DCN Brand issues. Teri is compiling a list of ideas for outreach blurbs for use - for example - in the DCNews and on the DCN Facebook. Teri and Bev Sykes will communicate about posts to the Fan Facebook.

10.   Announcements

It was remarked that the German and French governments have warned their subjects against the use of Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser. Steve commented that if anyone is concerned they might use Firefox, Opera or Chrome as alternatives - but all browsers have vulnerabilities.

11.   Adjournment 5:54

NEXT BOARD MEETING:  Tuesday, February 16, 2010

Humbly submitted,
