1. Call to Order 5:15 p.m. by President Kimball Sargeant
2. The agenda was approved by consensus
3. Public comment: None
4. The minutes of the 6/15/10 regular board meeting were approved by consensus
5. City Media Grant
Steve noted that an updated proposal for a City Media Grant is on the Telecomm Commission agenda for information. There appear to be no application procedures available yet.
6. DCN website redesign/upgrade plan
There was active discussion around the ongoing problem that the DCN website has two 'homepages' and this causes confusion. Various suggestions for resolving this were made and the OPC will take them into consideration as it addresses the bigger issue of the DCN website redesign/upgrade.
7. Report - new drop-in sessions
The first drop-in, with a focus on social media, attracted only a small group but Teri and Tsui agreed that it was nevertheless a good session and provided some very valuable insight into how to approach future drop-ins. Teri thinks there will be one more this summer especially since people unable to attend the first one have been inquiring about another.
8. Board recruitment update
Russ reported that there has not been much recent activity on this issue but the committee has goals and some leads to follow up.
9. Committee reports
RAC: Jan reported by email to Kimball that one group has been approved DCN resources this month.
OPC: Will address the website issue and probably schedule another social media drop-in.
Web Team: Steve announced that two organization's websites have been migrated to Plone 3 with great success (Davis Bike Club and Explorit.) Now he will start migrating some other websites that are currently in Plone 2. This includes DCN.
He also noted that the School District site that was migrated onto its own server has been working smoothly now for a month.
He has communicated with Rob (of Omsoft) about the proposed transition to a different webmail system and Rob says he is ready to switch at any time now.
10. Announcements none
11. Adjournment 6:06
NEXT BOARD MEETING: August 17, 2010
