Davis Community Network Board of Directors Meeting

November 15, 2011, 5:15 pm

Sudwerk Restaurant, Second Street, Davis

Members present (9): Bill Buchanan, Sheila Evans, Jim Frame, Teri Greenfield, Anne Hance, Russ Hobby, Steve McMahon, Jan Meizel, Kimball Sargeant.

Members absent (3): Tsui Chang, Robert Nickerson, Richard Yamagata

1. President Teri Greenfield called the meeting to order at 5:21 pm

2. The agenda was approved - by consensus - with the addition of Item 6a

3. No public comment 

4. The minutes of the Oct 18, 2011 meeting were approved by consensus

5. DCN Toolkit Guide (Anne)

This was discussed under Committee reports

6. Use of City Training Room (Teri, Sheila, Jim)

The City Training Room is scheduled to be converted very soon into an office and so DCN is negotiating with City staff to identify alternative space(s) for DCN meetings and classes. No decision about any space has been made yet.

6a. Nominating Committees (Teri)

Board members whose terms are ending have all agreed to serve for another two years. Russ Hobby is chair of the committee that includes Sheila Evans and Kari Peterson. The committee will create the slate of applicants for election and re-election for presentation to the Board next month for election in January.

The Officer Nominating Committee chaired by Bill Buchanan, includes Bill, Steve McMahon and Tom Stanionis. This committee will present a slate of officers in December for election in January/

7. Committee reports 

RAC: the committee is working on the Toolkit Guide and had a session at its last meeting to help committee members use Google Docs for reviewing and commenting on the draft pages completed so far.

Classes: it was noted that attendance has been somewhat lower than usual and board members wondered why.

TechOps: there have been mail server issues for several days and non-functioning spam filtering but Omsoft is on top of the issue and it will very soon be resolved.

Web Team: Steve is functioning under a bit less pressure now for a while and will catch up with his 'to-do" list of DCN related jobs.
