In this issue:
1. Meet Mike and Bill Mike has worked in the information technology field for over 30 years, most recently with Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 1021, a labor union representing public employees throughout Northern California. He also received a master’s degree in Public Policy from the UC Berkeley Goldman school. Retired from full-time employment with SEIU in 2010, he now divides his time between several pursuits, among them volunteer work and playing bass for Odd Man Out, an all-Davis rock cover band. Bill just retired from UC Davis, where he was a programmer and database administrator. He has lived in Davis most of his life, and co-hosts the long-running The Saturday Morning Folk Show radio show on KDVS. He also stages concerts in his living room. We anticipate that two more new members will join our board late this year or early in 2015, setting the stage for discussions in 2015 about possible new ventures or projects involving DCN. More to come!
2. Classes confirmed and in the works Jan will teach her class at the Connections Café, sponsored by the city and the Senior Center. Connections Café is open to the public, and all are welcome to attend, from 6-8 p.m. Mondays in the Valente Room of the Davis Senior Center, 646 A St. Details for the other two classes are being worked out. DCN Vice President Rob Nickerson will teach them.
