How does the RAC work to serve the community?

How Does The RAC Work To Serve The Community?

This DCN committee works to help local nonprofit organizations and groups to serve their members and the community by providing free communication tools that enable the groups to share information about themselves, their services and special projects via the Internet.

  • Who is eligible? Yolo county 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations or groups with a roster of members and officers.
  • Limited Eligibility: Groups that endorse a candidate for political office or a local or national ballot issue are eligible to use a DCN Web Calendar but no other DCN free resource. Such groups requiring a Mailman List can apply for a List at $5 per month at www.dcn.org/dcn/access/services/network.html#lists

The RAC reviews requests and project ideas submitted by community members, who are representing such non-commercial community groups, and makes certain Internet resources available without charge.

DCN is the "carrier" of information resulting from this assistance it is not the "publisher" and does not edit sponsored- or mini-project web pages or other activities.

How Might The RAC help You?

Do you belong to a local organization that could benefit its members and its service community more efficiently and effectively if it had the use of these free DCN resources/tools:

·      A web page (DCN has created an easy-to-use website template called a "Simple Site")

·      An automated e-mailing List (DCN uses the Mailman e-mailing list program)

·      A DCN web calendar. This calendar can integrate your organization's public events with DCN's Community Calendar

·      Individual help and group training in the use of these DCN tools.

If so, your organization might want to consider applying to the RAC for the use of one or more of these tools.
