DCN is going to offer two new classes in May. Admission is free but registration required. Space is limited and is first come first served. To register, please contact admin@dcn.org or 750-1170. Class details are as follows:
Social
Media 101
Thursday, May 20, 2010, 6:30-8:00 p.m.
This class will offer an overview of today's popular social media -
Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LInkedIn, Flickr and more. We will also
discuss issues related to privacy, and how to set limits on how
personal information is shared on social networking websites. As an
exercise, we will help students set up, if interested, accounts on
Facebook and Twitter. Instructors are Teri Greenfield, Marilyn Maciel
and Kari Peterson.
Nonprofits
and Social Media
Thursday, May 27, 2010, 6:30-8:00 p.m.
We will provide an overview of the social media opportunities available
to nonprofit organizations. We will discuss how today's modern
nonprofits are using social media to increase awareness for their
causes, inform and educate their communities, grow and engage their
memberships, enhance fundraising, enhance advocacy efforts - in short,
to become far more effective in meeting their missions! What are the
most popular social media choices and how does a nonprofit get started?
Instructors are Teri Greenfield and Kari Peterson.
