Meeting Notes

Members present: Chang, Chiles, Crumley, Hance (chair), Yamagata
Members absent: Brattesani, Evans, Gonzalez, Meizel
Visitors:  Katherine Heck, Heloisa Kinder, Mary Hudson Kelly, Eric Engelhard

1.  Chair Hance called the meeting to order at 6:37 PM
2.  We approved the agenda as distributed and corrected.
3.  We reviewed the following projects:

a)    Approved for Birch Lane Elementary PTA:
        requested by Katherine Heck
        1 Simple Site
        2 Mailman Lists - approved prior to the meeting
        1 Calendar - approved prior to the meeting
        Web Team help & Training
        Received Jan 15, 2008; start Mar 17; end indefinite

b)    Youth In Focus request by Andrew Bruch was withdrawn

c)    Approved for Patwin Elementary PTA
        requested by Eric Englehard and Mary Hudson Kelly
        1 Simple Site
        2 Mailman Lists - approved prior to the meeting
        1 Calendar - approved prior to the meeting
        Web Team help & Training
        Received March 4, 2008; start Mar 17; end indefinite

4. We ratified the approval made between meetings for

    a)  Cesar Chavez Elementary PTA (SIPAT) additional Mailman List requested by Teri Greenfield.
Two Mailman Lists were approved in 2003 and only one was set up so this List is apparently the second one approved in 2003,
A Simple Site approved in 2003 at the request of Mike Ransome appears not to be in use?

5. Discussions
    a) How DCN keeps track of the use and management of the tools it provides to nonprofits.
We agreed to schedule one of the upcoming RAC meetings to do a hands-on review of Simple Sites. Anne agreed to ask Steve if he keeps a list of the Simple Sites he sets up and if he does, could she have a copy for committee use.  This discussion will be continued.
    b) We had a discussion of the pros and cons of email services like ConstantContact.  Diane wondered if any Plone developers were working on a Plone version that would be free of the privacy and ownership problems that we encounter with commercial services.
