RAC Meeting Notes

Davis Community Network
Resource Allocation Committee
Regular Meeting June 16, 2008
Meeting Notes

Members present: Chang, Crumley, Gonzalez, Hance (chair)
Members absent: Brattesani, Chiles, Evans, Meizel, Yamagata
Visitors: Kevin Wolf

1. The meeting was called to order at 6:35PM by the Chair

2. The agenda was approved as distributed

3. The following projects were reviewed and approved:

a) Davis Advocates for Neighborhood Grocery Stores
Project Leader: Kevin Wolf
1 SimpleSite (no shell is required)
1 Calendar

b) Two additional Mailman Lists for I-House

4. Tsui Chang used the projector to provide an overview of DCN's "Nonprofit Digital Toolkit" project for the RAC members. She showed the new (interim) DCN homepage with its prominent links to DCN tools and to the toolkit and explained the way in which the project was proceeding with six nonprofits participating in a pilot.

There were some questions and some concerns about the role to be played in the future by the RAC. This latter issue will need to be addressed since any expansion or restructuring of the RAC might be hard to do. Perhaps DCN will need to create a new committee to deal with the more complex issues related to the Toolkit.

5. Other

Anne mentioned that plans were moving ahead for the development of the Plone site we approved last month for Explorit. She mentioned that Explorit now has 19 videos on YouTube with the title ExploritVideo.

Bob Gonzalez asked when we plan to follow up on the survey we've been doing of the SimpleSites (1.0 and 2.0) being used by local nonprofits. Anne explained that results from RY are not yet in but that she hoped shortly to have a summary of the results so that we could decide on the best way to follow up.

Adjourn at 7:35PM

Next meeting: MONDAY, July 21, 2008 (if needed)
