Resource Allocation Committee (RAC)

How Does The RAC Work To Serve The Community?

This committee works to help local groups to serve their members and the community by providing communication tools that enable the groups to share information about themselves, their services and special projects via the Internet.

Who is eligible? Yolo county 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations or groups with a roster of members and officers.

The RAC reviews requests and project ideas submitted by community members, who are representing such non-commercial community groups, and makes certain Internet resources available without charge.

DCN is the "carrier" of information resulting from this assistance it is not the "publisher" and does not edit sponsored- or mini-project web pages or other activities.

How Might The RAC help You?

Do you belong to a local organization that could benefit its members more efficiently and effectively if it had:
•a web page (in a shell or in a DCN Simple Site)
•an automated Mailman E-mailing List
•the use of an organization web calendar that can integrate its public events with DCN's Community Calendar
•a discounted (nonprofit) dialup account

If so, your organization might want to consider applying to the RAC for assistance to get your idea started. In order for the RAC to authorize resources to be used by groups who apply for Sponsored Project status a formal application is required. Some resources are made available indefinitely without charge while others need to be time-limited and will ultimately involve a monthly fee. For example, courtesy dial-up accounts, at the end of the project period, must usually be converted to regular dialups with a monthly fee paid to Omsoft. The nonprofit DCN dialup account is provided for a discounted monthly charge and some extras.
